What’s New in Red5 Pro 14.1.0?
Announced on March 26, 2025, the Red5 Pro 14.1.0 update brought valuable enhancements and fixes. Here is what you need to know about this update:
New Features
- h.265 transcoding to h.264. Following Red5’s recent implementation of H.265 ingest passthrough support, we’re now introducing enhanced H.265 compatibility across our platform. When enabled, this new capability intelligently handles incoming streams based on their encoding format: H.264 streams are processed through our standard pipeline, while H.265 streams are automatically detected and transcoded to H.264 – ensuring seamless integration with the entire Red5 ecosystem. This advancement eliminates compatibility barriers for teams using H.265 encoders while maintaining optimal performance throughout the delivery chain.
Improvements
- Allow Social Pusher configuration before Stream Starts
- Stream Manager 2.0 added some delay when reporting time-averaged metrics to allow for better scaling by CPU and Memory
- Stream Manager 2.0 added host parameter to create mixer request
- Stream Manager 2.0 added Autoscale Service token requirements in API requests
- Stream Manager 2.0 added automatic transition from SUNSET to DOOMED state
Bug Fixes
- Stream Manager 2.0 Streams Service sends duplicate Restreamer Calls
- Stream Manager 2.0 restarting a scheduled deployment fails
- Stream Manager 2.0 Delete NodeGroupConfig does not remove associated Provisions from the Streams Service
- Stream Manager 2.0 Delete NodeGroupConfig does not remove Mixer associations from the Streams Service
- Stream Manager 2.0 Streams service not persisting provision if restreamer node no longer exists
- Mixer not working with streams that have no audio
- Interstitial stream switching not working
